We had an absolute blast during Ryan's senior portrait session in the vibrant heart of downtown Columbus! This wasn't just any photoshoot; it was a day packed with crazy laughs, thanks to Ryan's willingness to embrace new and adventurous ideas.
This adventurous spirit allowed me to experiment with various shooting styles I'd been eager to try, particularly those that were very editorial and full of dynamic movement.
Ryan was game for anything, no matter how outlandish it seemed! We worked around one of my favorite areas, the statehouse and explored new hidden gems, bringing different textures into the mix. His choice to keep his outfits simple was perfect, making it easier to work against the urban backdrop filled with diverse textures.
Drawing inspiration from many fashion photographers, I gave Ryan some unconventional directions. We couldn't help but laugh at how bizarre they sounded, especially right there on High Street. But the end result? Absolutely some of our favorite images—natural, editorial, brimming with life and energy.
While traditional static poses are great and complement a session well, incorporating spontaneous, lively captures was a game changer and incredibly fun!
I was thrilled when Ryan’s sister, Alex, decided to join us for the session. She brought great energy and was a fantastic help, ensuring Ryan looked his best. Their sibling dynamic added so much to the day and made for some wonderful photos.
Sessions like these are a vivid reminder of why I love photography so much—it's all about making connections, creating art, and capturing memories that last a lifetime.
A huge thank you to Ryan for such a memorable day and for trusting me to document this significant milestone. Seeing your reaction at your session premiere—watching you gasp at your final images—truly warmed my heart.
