When it comes to guy sessions, often I hear them say they’re only doing their senior photos to make mom or dad happy, or to get something in a yearbook…I get it! Guys are not necessarily as prone to be swooning over the makeup and hair, or choosing outfits! But that doesn't mean they can't have an awesome session too!
I loved chatting with Joey's mom on our initial call and she had the same concerns as every other mom does. Portrait session can get overwhelming fast! The guys are not as complicated as everyone makes them out to be. Pretty simple really...they want to know they are going to look good and they want to know they can be in a cool location. I think they (like most) were nervous about putting together outfits but once they knew I was there to help them with that via a style consult, they were in. That is one of the things I take most pride in with my sessions is taking that stress off of you and assisting with so much guidance.
Once we held their style consult, I noticed how engaged Joey was, outgoing and definitely had his ideas of what he liked and what he didn't. This sent me a real big message....he cared!
What he wanted most out of his session was a variety of images and something awesome with the skyline. Done and Done! Once I did a mid point check in and started receiving photos of his finished outfits, I knew it was going to be an awesome shoot. He killed it with his styles! I mean seriously-wow! We had a blast shooting in the Arena District and finished at North Bank Bark where we got some pretty cool skyline images!
Joey and Jess-you were a ton of fun and thank you for choosing me to be your photographer! I loved shooting with both of you and I'm so glad the experience turned out to be so much better than you thought!
Check out their favorite images from their session. I'm currently designing some beautiful artwork for their walls along with a custom designed album that they will have to enjoy for a lifetime.
Which is your favorite?
Here's what Joey and Jess had to say about their session!
-
The best part of Senior Session Day was getting that feeling when I thought a photo was going to turn out well.
-
Going into the shoot I was honestly excited to get some good photos of myself. The whole experience exceeded my expectations and I had a lot of fun!
-
The most important was getting a variety of photos so I could find different kinds that I like. We had not only three outfits but many poses and backgrounds to choose from.
-
I wanted to keep the look casual. I used a jacket but paired it with a dark colored pair of jeans. It was a classic look.
-
My favorite photo was me on top of the column with the cityscape in the background. My goal was to get a photo of the city as a backdrop and it ended up being my favorite!

I love them! I couldn't wait to post online.

Claudine was the perfect person for Joey's session! She was able to make him feel comfortable from the very beginning. She would personally show him a pose or from her phone and then he would duplicate it. She's super fun and really made him feel at ease getting photos taken in public. Before the session they worked together to find the perfect location, she gave advice on his outfits and really listened to what he was wanting out of his shoot. As a parent, I was over the moon at how happy he was at the end of the session! He was so confident and excited to see how the photos turned out. (They ended up blowing me away by the way! Amazing!) I am so thrilled we found Claudine!

I hung up the phone and knew immediately Claudine was going to be the one to take my son's senior pictures! She was quick at responding to my initial contact, answered any questions I had, and gave us details of the process. I was impressed with her website and reviews and after talking to her I felt confident she would do a great job!
